Eid Prayers to Be Held in Marseille

The Al Adha Eid prayers will be performed in the French city of Marseille tomorrow.

The city’s Prayers Leaders Council said the special Eid prayers and celebrations will be held on Tuesday, October 14, saphirnews website reported.

The council congratulated the followers of Islam on the occasion of Eid and invited the city’s Muslims to join the prayers.

The ceremony will start at 6 o’clock in the morning at Chanot Park and the prayers will be performed at 8:30.

Like Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha begins with a Sunnah prayer of two rakats followed by a sermon (khuṭbah). Eid al-Adha celebrations start after the descent of the Hajj from Mount Arafat, a hill east of Mecca.

In the lunar Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah. In the international Gregorian calendar, the dates vary from year to year, drifting approximately 11 days earlier each year.
