International Convention on Islamic Management in Malaysia

International Convention on Islamic Management will be held on 27th – 28th Dec at College of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.

Management from Islamic perspective is viewed as the emphasis on personal piety among managers and administrators either in the private or public sectors. Other literature views Islamic management as a combination of ideas from the Western management and religious elements so that the concept fits the requirements of Shari'a.

Although the theoretical views of Islamic management have long been discussed, its implementation however has yet to be proud of. Until now, there has yet a novel distinct model of Islamic Management or specific applicable Islamic standard especially for corporate organizations. Indeed, the alignment between theory and practical of Islamic management requires a tremendous effort and attention from all relevant stakeholders.

The purpose of the Convention is therefore to revisit what has been achieved so far, the challenges of Islamic management and how its implementation can be improved. With the strong support from the government and private sectors, it is possible that Islamic management can achieve its great potential in ensuring a transparent design and best practice in organizational management and will be recognized in the 21st century.

The convention is going to be held to explore the feasibility of Islamic management, to examine the extent to which the Islamic management has been practiced, particularly in the corporate sector,to re-evaluate the achievement of goals and targets towards Islamic management and to gather experts in related fields to study current issues related to Islamic management.

The ICIM 2013 invites theoretical and empirical papers in Islamic management which could be associated with the following areas: Management of Corporate/Business Institutions, Management of Government/GLC Institutions, Management of Islamic Institutions (Waqf, Zakah, Mosque, etc), Human Resource, Finance, Banking and Investment, Marketing, Information, Development, Quality, Halal, Ethics, etc.
