TEHRAN (IQNA) – God is aware of all events and happenings and at the same time has given mankind freewill to define his fate.

Surah Az-Zukhruf

According to Surah Az-Zukhruf of the Holy Quran, there is a place where all events that happened in the past and will happen in the future have been registered.

The 43rd chapter of the Quran is Surah Az-Zukhruf. It has 89 verses and is in the 25th Juz. It is Makki and the 63rd Surah revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The name of the Surah comes from the word Zukhruf, meaning embellishments and ornaments, mentioned in verse 35. It points to the triviality and worthlessness of the world and worldly affairs.

The Surah talks about the importance of the Quran, the prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), some reasons for Tawheed (monotheism) and the need to confront Shirk (polytheism).

It also points to the stories of some messengers of God and their peoples. According to Quran exegeses, the main theme of this Surah is giving warning to humans.

At the beginning of the chapter, emphasis is laid on the importance of the Holy Quran and the prophethood of the last messenger of God.

It then talks about reasons proving Tawheed and enumerates God’s blessings.

The Surah also stresses confronting Shirk and avoiding superstitions and blind imitations, highlighting how prophets like Ibrahim (AS), Moses (AS) and Jesus (AS) acted in this regard.

Then there is the issue of resurrection and how believers are rewarded and what a dreadful fate awaits disbelievers.

It also refers to unacceptable values that dominate the life of disbelievers, leading them to make miscalculations in important issues in life.

One of the issues mentioned in Surah Az-Zukhruf is a place referred to as Umm al-Kitab and Luh Mahfuz. Umm al-Kitab is also mentioned in Surahs Al-Imran and Ar-Ra’ad. According to some Hadiths Umm al-Kitab refers to the entire Quran while according to some others it refers only to Surah Al-Fatihah.

Luh Mahfuz is a place where all the events that happen in the world have been registered in full details and in a way that cannot be altered. It is not known what this book is made of but certainly it is not made of paper and it is not material.
