Iraq’s Supreme Islamic Council Denounces Terrorist Bombings in Sadr City

The Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq in a statement condemned the terrorist attacks in the Sadr City of Baghdad.

It said the spiteful Takfiri terrorism once again attacked one of the safe neighborhoods in Iraq, adding another page to their list of crimes, Buratha news agency reported.

At least 45 people were killed and 230 others injured after two suicide bombers, one in an explosives-laden car and the other on foot, targeted a funeral in Sadr City north of Baghdad on Saturday.

The statement called on Iraq’s security organizations to review the security plans and approve new security measures to uproot terrorism.

It said the security officials ought to develop new plans to prevent Takfiris from dealing a blow to the unity of the Iraqi nation.

The Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed God to heal the injured.

Takfiri terrorist attacks against Shia and other targets have surged across Iraq in recent months, reaching its highest level since 2008.
