United Voice in Iran’s Foreign Policy Originates from Status of Supreme Leader

While there are different voices heard from the US about Iran, there is a united voice in the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy.

This is according to Nozar Shafiei, Iranian MP and member of the Majlis’ National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, who also told IQNA that Iran’s president is backed by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and that is why a single voice is heard from Iran in its foreign policy.

He referred to the recent visit by President Hassan Rouhani to New York and his attending the 68th UN General Assembly, saying that the trip was made at a time when many countries under US influence had lined up against Iran.

Mr. Shafiei stressed that the Iranian president managed to build world trust and have the world accept the reasonable discourses of the Islamic Republic.

He pointed to the new developments including the meeting between Iranian and US chief diplomats and the phone conversation between the two countries’ presidents, saying that the future perspective of Iran’s nuclear case is bright.

The member of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission stressed that solving complex issues like international sanctions, Iran-US relations and the nuclear issue needs time.

He noted that the US president is under pressure from Zionist lobbies who are worried about relations between Iran and the US.

The lawmaker added that the ball is in the United States’ court now and that it is up to the US president to convince the Senate, House, and other political forces that are influential in America’s foreign policy.
