Iranian Qari Bags 1st Prize at Tunisia Int’l Quran Competition

Iranian representative Mehdi Shayeq came first in the recitation and Tajweed category of the third International Holy Quran Competition of Tunisia.



He received his award form Tunisia’s Religious Affairs Minister Nureddin Khodami at the closing ceremony of the competition, binaanews website reported.


In this category, Osama Najib Faraj Bin Shitwan from Libya, Ali Bin Saliha from Tunisia, Bassim Abdulghani Al-Urwa from Morocco and Fathullah Vahyidin Qarnin from Indonesia came second to fifth, respectively.


Winner of the top rank in the memorization category was Al-Nazir Al-Bashir from Cameroon while representatives of Libya, Tunisia, Yemen and Morocco ranked second to fifth.


The jury panel of the competition, made of Quran experts from different countries, was also honored at the closing ceremony of the contest.


The third International Holy Quran Competition of Tunisia was held on August 24-29 in the city of Bardu with the participation of Quran reciters and memorizers from 23 countries.
