US Advancing the Al-Qaeda Equation in Syria to Israel’s Advantage

The US has concluded that the advancements of Syria’s popular army is not in its interest and that Iran’s access to the strategic waters of the Mediterranean has weakened Washington’s influence in the region.

Senior Middle East analyst Mohammad Sadeq Al-Husseini made the remark in an interview with IQNA adding that for these reasons, the US is pushing ahead with the Al-Qaeda equation in Syria to the advantage of Israel.

He referred to Washington’s pretext for attacking Syria, that is Syrian government’s use of chemical weapons, as utter lie, saying that the US used the same lie as a pretext for attacking Iraq in 2003.

He said what Washington seeks is intervention in Syria with the aim of realizing its colonial objectives and maintaining the Zionist regime’s interests.

“Following the great victories of Hezbollah in Al-Qusayr and Homs and the progress of the Syrian army in Damascus suburbs, … the US played the card of chemical weapons,” Al-Husseini said, stressing that all the evidence and information obtained by Iran, Hezbollah and the Russians shows that the chemical weapons have been given to Syria’s armed rebels by Britain and through financial assistance from Saudi Arabia and Qatar to take revenge on the Syrian army.

Al-Husseini noted that Barack Obama has asked Iran and Hezbollah to stop supporting the Syrian government and people, adding that the purpose behind a possible US attack on Syria would be overthrowing Bashar Al-Assad and pushing Syria toward disintegration.

He said the US wants to start an all-out war not against the people and government of Syria but against the resistance front because it has concluded that the developments in the Arab world, the accomplishments of the Syrian army, and Iran’s access to the Mediterranean waters point to a significant geostrategic development that would undermine America’s influence in the region and turned the Mediterranean into an Arabic-Islamic sea.

“This would be a huge development that could transform all the equations formed since the Second World War and create a new world for the oppressed.”

Asked about the role of Israel in a possible attack on Syria, the political analyst said the Zionist regime seeks tension and chaos in the region and wants wars and conflicts in Arab and Islamic countries, as it would be in the regime’s interest to see more clashes and conflicts between different sects, races, and ethnicities in the Muslim and Arab world.

He said by inflaming a civil war the world arrogance aims to render Syria ineffective as a Muslim countries that is part of the axis of resistance.

Al-Husseini stressed that there will be stronger reactions to a possible US invasion of Syria because the world has changed. “People in the region have risen up and are more aware. Countries like Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Russia and Latin American countries no longer act in the interest of the Zionist regime and the US. On the other hand, the Islamic Republic of Iran has stood firmly against pressures and sanctions and turned into a role model for the countries and people of the region.”

He predicted that if a war is launched against Syria, it would take only a few weeks, if not a few days, for Syria and the resistance front to defeat the United States.

The political expert also predicted that with the US defeat, a popular uprising will develop in the region against the Zionist regime, the slogan of “Long Live Palestine” will be revived, the culture of resistance will expand further, the region will get rid of the US and Iran will gain more regional influence.
