Iraqi Parliament Warns about Growing Power of Takfiris in Syria

Head of the Iraqi parliament’s foreign relations committee warned about the growing power of Takfiris in Syria.

Speaking in a press conference, Sheikh Himam Hamoudi said if Takfiris rise to power in Syria, they will set Iraq and the entire region on fire, Al-Minar news network reported.

“We are worried about the actions of Takfiri groups in Syria and stress that their rising to power would be a great threat to the region and would destroy security in the Middle East.”

He said the longer clashes in Syria continue, the more roots of terrorism will spread in the region and the more Takfiri groups develop.

Hamoudi also pointed to the chemical weapons crisis in Syria and said anyone who has used chemical weapons in the country should be brought to justice.

He underlined his opposition to a US strike on Syria and said the only way out of the crisis in the country is the return of the clashing sides to the negotiation table and support for holding the Geneva II conference.
