Extremists Hindering Celebration of Qadir Feast in Egypt

Shias cannot openly celebrate the Feast of Qadir in Egypt because of extremists, an Egyptian Shia figure said.



Mahmoud Jaber said while the Feast of Qadir is one of the major Shia Eids (festivals) celebrated around the world, Shias cannot celebrate it because of extremists, vetogate website reported.


There are no Husseiniyas (Shia religious centers) in Egypt so Shias gather in houses to read the Quran, recite prayers and sing religious songs.


He referred to the Hadith of Thaqalayn and other Hadiths stressing that all of them testify to the event of Qadir.


The Feast of Qadir (Eid Al-Qadir), the 18th day of Dhul-Hajja on the lunar Hijri calendar, marks the anniversary of the day in the early years after the advent of Islam when the Holy Prophet (PBUH) introduced Imam Ali (AS) as his successor.
