Head of Al-Ahrar Fraction in Iraqi parliament Mazin Al-Mazini, deputy governor of Basra Muhammad Taher and lawmaker Hifa Al-Utwani were among senior figures attending the Friday prayers in Basra’s grand mosque.
Addressing the worshipers, Al-Mazini condemned the wave of killing sand bomb attacks in Iraq in recent months and said the Al-Ahrar Fraction denounces violence against any Iraqi, be it Shia, Sunni, Christian or Saebi.
Friday prayer leader Hojat-ol-Islam Sayyed Sadreddin Qabanchi in his sermon condemned the attacks on Sunnis in Basra.
Meanwhile, Iraqi news agency Buratha reported that 18 people were killed and 21 injured in two bomb attacks in the city of Samarra.
