Lebanon’s Sunni Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabani described the terrorist bombings in the country as a conspiracy weapon.

Delivering a speech broadcast on several Arab TVs, he said these Fitnas (seditions) help to fulfill the objectives of the Zionist regime about destroying the Arab region, Al-Akhbar daily reported.

Sheikh Qabani said terrorism was manifested in its ugliest form in Tripoli, referring to the deadly bombing in the Lebanese city that left tens of people dead and injured on Friday.

He stated that the terrorist bombings, including one hitting the suburbs of Beirut, have targeted all Lebanese by fomenting discord between Shias and Sunnis.

“I tell the Lebanese, Shia and Sunni, that the Fitna targeted the Zahiya (suburb of Beirut) yesterday and Tripoli today to provoke fighting among you.”

Meanwhile, senior Sunni cleric Sheikh Ahmed Al-Qatan in a message condemned the Tripoli bombing and said it was part of a Zionist-American plot targeting national and Islamic unity in Lebanon.

Sheikh Ahmed Al-Qatan urged all Lebanese to exercise restraint and calm in the face of the terrorist attacks.
